Pawnbroker is a solider in the Black Company at the outset of the series. He is described as an ugly man with beady little eyes. He is the Company's resident loan shark. His given name is actually Sugar Beet, a fact which One-Eye teases him about relentlessly. He manages to survive all the way through the Company's mission in Juniper, and is one of the men assigned to observe undercover in the Buskin. He is actually the person who fires the fatal balista shot that kills the Limper . . . for the time being at least. He disappears from the Annals by the time of the Company's hiding in the Plain of Fear.
