The Cantard
From Glen Cook Wiki
A huge geographical region eight hundred miles to the south of TunFaire. Ninety percent of the world’s silver comes from mines in the Cantard. This has led to the Cantard Wars between Karenta and Venaget, which have raged for hundreds of years. Most of the countryside is desert.
The Cantard has a large population of native non-humans, as well as all sorts of monsters - the centuries of war there have brought a vast number of scavengers to profit from the dead. One of the largest non-human populations is the centaur tribes, who fight as mercenaries for both sides. There are a number of cavalry regimental headquarters established in the Cantard, inluding Fort Must and Fort Caprice. One of the most important cities in the Cantard is the Karentine naval headquarters of Full Harbor.
